Aquí se muestra una lista muy importante que ha sido elaborada por un jurado de expertos en la materia de todo el mundo, que otorga anualmente el galardón al mejor inmueble de una altura mínima de 100 metros acabado el año anterior. El prestigioso Premio de Arquitectura EMPORIS, que está considerado junto con el Premio CTBUH y también el IHA International Highrise Award, uno de los galardones más famosos en todo el mundo en cuanto a la edificación de gran altura y rascacielos se refiere, se celebra desde el año 2000 hasta nuestros días y se denomina "Emporis Skyscraper Award". El importante galardón premia la excelencia en el diseño y la funcionalidad de los edificios de más de 100 metros de altura estructural o arquitectónica que hayan sido inaugurados el año anterior.

Cada año, un grupo de Jefes de Redacción de todo el mundo eligen exhaustivamente después de una rigurosa votación a los tres mejores proyectos mediante tres reconocimientos: Oro, Plata y Bronce. Edificios altos (denominados High-rise) y rascacielos destacados en todo el mundo como las Absolute Towers de Mississauga, diseño de MAD Architects, la Aqua Tower de Chicago, obra del Studio Gang, la Cocoon Tower de Tokio, diseño de Tange Arquitectos, el 30 St. Mary Axe de Londres diseño de Norman Foster, el HSB Turning Torso de Malmo, obra de Santiago Calatrava, el Hotel Porta Fira de Barcelona diseño de Toyo Ito o la Eight Spruce Street de Frank Gehry, entre otros, han recibido hasta el momento este prestigioso galardón.
