Aunque de la sensación que la Pirámide de Transamérica simule la figura humana, el espectacular edificio esta inspirado en la forma de los árboles de un parque público de la ciudad californiana de San Francisco. La visión para construir este increíble rascacielos estuvo a cargo del entonces Presidente de la Transamérica John R. Beckett, quien encargaba al prestigioso arquitecto William Pereira (FAIA), el edificio más alto de la ciudad para que fuese la Sede principal de la importante Corporación. El arquitecto ideó un edificio sobrecogedor gracias a la forma piramidal de su preciosa fachada. Ésta, se erige espléndida sobre una estructura de 16.000 m³ de hormigón reforzada con alrededor de 487 kilómetros de barras de acero.
La base del edificio está diseñada por medio de una serie de pórticos con algunos pilares inclinados, que unidos entre sí, conforman el asiento del espectacular edificio. La Pirámide de Transamerica se revistió con elementos prefabricados de cuarzo en color blanco y cuenta nada menos que con 3678 ventanas en la fachada. Los 65,225 m² que conforman la superficie total, se reparten entre las 48 plantas de las que dispone el edificio. Por su forma piramidal, sólo dos de los dieciocho ascensores con los que cuenta el edificio, llegan hasta la planta superior. Una cúspide en forma de pirámide de unos 65 metros de altura con una función puramente estética, corona este interesantísimo rascacielos desde el punto de vista estructural y arquitectónico.
La Pirámide de Transamérica, junto con el famoso puente colgante Golden Gate, produce uno de los skyline más espectaculares del mundo. El imponente diseño de la Transamerica Pyramid destaca por encima de todos los rascacielos que se encuentran a su alrededor. El increíble arranque de la estructura, la convierte en todo un hito arquitectónico y en un ejemplo a seguir por otros arquitectos e ingenieros de todo el mundo. El edificio de oficinas se encuentra localizado en el centro financiero de la ciudad de San Francisco, y es, sin lugar a dudas, junto con el famoso puente rojo Golden Gate Bridge, uno de los símbolos de San Francisco y de los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica.

Although the feeling that the Transamerica Pyramid simulate the human figure, the spectacular building is inspired by the shape of the trees in a public park in the Californian city of San Francisco. The vision to build this amazing skyscrapers was in charge of the then President of the Transamerica John R. Beckett, who directed the renowned architect William Pereira (FAIA), the tallest building in the city to be the headquarters of the major corporation. The architect designed a building by overwhelming the pyramidal shape of her beautiful facade. This, stands on a splendid structure of 16,000 m³ of concrete reinforced with about 487 miles of steel bars.
The base of the building is designed by a series of frames with some inclined columns that linked together, form the seat of the spectacular building. The Transamerica Pyramid is clad with precast white quartz and has no less than 3678 windows on the facade. The 65,225 m² comprising the total area, are distributed among 48 floors of the building available. Because of its pyramidal shape, only two of the eighteen elevators are there in the building, reach the top floor. A pyramid-shaped peak of about 65 meters high with a purely aesthetic crown this interesting skyscrapers from the standpoint of structural and architectural.

The Transamerica Pyramid, along with the famous Golden Gate suspension bridge, produces one of the world's most spectacular skyline. The impressive design of the Transamerica Pyramid stands out above all the skyscrapers that are around. The Incredible start of the structure, makes it a landmark and an architectural example for other architects and engineers around the world. The office building is located in the financial center of the city of San Francisco, and is without a doubt, along with the famous red bridge Golden Gate Bridge, a symbol of San Francisco and the United States of America.
