¿Sabías qué...? de la semana / Did you know...? of the week: Big Ben Londres

above, detail of a huge clock faces with different operators performing cleaning jobs. As a curiosity, the nickname Big Ben is due to name his biggest bells found in its interior, which weighs in at 13 tons.

Despite advances inclination worrying about 0.9 mm. each year, and it would take about 4,000 years for the London Clock Tower reaches the same slope as the famous Leaning Tower. Although the inclination of the tower has been produced with the passing of the years, the major concern has emerged between 2002 and 2003, as it has been during the past two years has increased markedly when the deviation. According to recent studies, the inclination of the tower may be due to the construction of several underground subways and built 5 floors of parking under the building. Also, the water of the River Thames may be weakening not only the foundations of London's Clock Tower (Big Ben), but also those of the Parliament building (The Palace of Westminster), architectural Heritage Site by the Unesco in 1987.
