The floor of the building is formed by an asymmetrical Y with three identical wings leaving an angle of 120 degrees between them. With this design the introspection of the owners of the building was greatly favored, since the different apartments are arranged in such a way that the privacy of the residents is guaranteed.

El diseño interior de la Lake Point recuerda enormemente al del Burj Khalifa de Dubai / Plant Distribution of Lake Point Tower was designed by John Heinrich and George Schipporeit, which you can see the triangular core of service with the three corridors of access to different apartments. The interior design of the Lake Point is very similar to that of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai

The Lake Point Tower is located at 505 North Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, Illinois, United States, and is the only residential building across Lake Shore Drive, a large and busy city avenue. The authors of this interesting building were two students of Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, who was one of the greatest exponents of the Bauhaus school of design, art and architecture, together with a small number of important architects as Le Corbusier and Philip Johnson, among others, formed the basis of known International Style, the Bauhaus was founded by Walter Wropius in Weimar, Germany in 1919.

Despite having a curved facade, the Lake Point Tower has become one of the finest examples of International Style, where the geometry and clean lines, played a key role / A pesar de poseer una fachada de líneas curvas, la Lake Point Tower se ha convertido en uno de los mejores exponentes del Estilo Internacional, donde la geometría y las líneas puras, jugaban un papel fundamental

For the design of the facade had originally planned 4 wings, but then found that the building system with 3 was the cheapest. For your height and to withstand strong winds that hit the city of Chicago for much of the year, architects John Heinrich and George Schipporeit designed a triangular core of reinforced concrete 59-feet square where they stayed 9 lifts and 3 stairways, the triangular core pillars helped the circular outer ring did not have a particularly large section on the upper floors.

above, original idea of Mies for the skyscraper of Berlin with the three wings forming 120º between them. This Mies design denotes a much more pointed shape (with three blocks) than the one designed by Schipporeit & Heinrich for the high residential building located in Chicago.

The curvature of this innovative facade is calculated to building users can not see the rest of the windows of neighboring apartments. The curtain wall facade is interrupted at the start of each plant through internal longitudinal drawers along the same which housed the various ducts of heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems of the building, this drawer ongoing hosting facilities, also makes the fear go away vertigo by building users. The Lake Point Tower has an attic that contains within it a rotating restaurant and not open to the public, with spectacular views of Lake Michigan.

The lower levels of the building have different shops and parking. Outside were conditioned also different leisure and recreation as a pool, a playground, and a waterfall with ducks, all built in green areas and private. The design of this building has also inspired other architects as the firm Solomon, Cordwell, Buenz & Associates, who designed two skyscrapers to the city of Chicago as the Harbor Point or Park Tower Condominiums, that although his plan is drawing shapes very different, are quite similar and with similar characteristics.
