The Red Apple is located not far from the famous Erasmus Bridge, designed by renowned architect Ben van Berkel, who after building the architectural firm founded UNStudio

Sección longitudinal de La Manzana Roja (The Red Apple). Su módulo más alto, de 125 metros de altura que se destinó a residencias privadas, destaca con respecto al conjunto de la moderna obra / Longitudinal section of The Red Apple (The Red Apple). Its magnitude higher at 125 meters high that went to private residences, stands with respect to all of the modern work

With this important Masterplan has tried to ancient architecture built in the early 1950's could live with the new through the rehabilitation of some buildings fusing them with new ones and looking for a balance between the two, the aluminum plates that adorn the red beautiful facade hides the perimeter structure of building support pillars

The exciting project of The Red Apple, is located on the island of Wijnhaven, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and is the culmination of a Masterplan project between the years 1992 - 2002 which was called "Dynamic Transformation." Driven by the Municipality of Rotterdam, has greatly improved the pattern of life in the city center. The major project is located precisely at the tip of the island of Wijnhaven, and is surrounded by the Maas river water on three sides, this strategic location of the work gives it great importance stands out above the other buildings are around, mainly thanks to its characteristic red color.

The avant-garde hybrid work is bright red and splendid in this downtown area, an outstanding integrated into the urban fabric of the industrial city of Rotterdam / La vanguardista obra híbrida de color rojo luce brillante y espléndida en esta zona centro, integrándose de manera sobresaliente en el tejido urbano de la ciudad industrial de Rotterdam

The highlight of this exciting project is the beautiful and elegant residential high-rise 125 meters high that stands out above the rest of the majestic whole. The skin of the main building, almost square, is covered by a curtain wall decorated with different aluminum plates with the characteristic red strategically located as a drawing. These red patches irregularly arranged vertically makes the building in slimness and modernity wins, large glazed areas also offer spectacular views of the city in all directions. The beautiful apartment tower recalls the great skyscrapers of Chicago architecture due to its thinness and being surrounded by other buildings of similar height but too far apart, the river water also helps create this effect.

Aluminum panels that grace the red facade as an irregular strips, really give the whole personality, differentiating it from other nearby buildings / Los paneles de aluminio de color rojo que embellecen la fachada a modo de tiras irregulares, realmente le dan personalidad al conjunto, diferenciándolo del resto de edificios cercanos

View of the various modules that comprise hybrid type The Red Apple (Red Apple), its highest modulus competed for the important Emporis Award in 2009, which eventually won the Aqua Tower in Chicago, designed by Studio Gang Architects / Vista de los diferentes módulos con tipología híbrida que componen The Red Apple (La Manzana Roja); su módulo más alto compitió por el importante Premio Emporis en 2009, que finalmente ganó la Aqua Tower de Chicago, diseño del Estudio de Arquitectura Gang (Gang Architects)

Another module of great importance and aesthetic for the project looks bright and gorgeous to accommodate different floors of commercial offices. Much of this module flies to the outside thanks to internal metal superstructure that supports it. An open space on the deck modulates open spaces around him offering natural lighting inside much of the office floors. Wijnhaven Island form a bond with the central area of the city and the river Maas, so the beautiful Red Apple Project has become a new icon for this place no doubt. Shaped like an L and a head elevation view and highlighting its innovative high-rise, the project is completed with several shopping centers, plenty of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and parking, giving life to the downtown area of the city of Rotterdam.
