¿Sabías qué...? Norman Foster tuvo el enorme reto de presentar el proyecto de la Hearst Tower —días después— del triste atentado del 11 S acontecido en la ciudad de Nueva York. El arquitecto demolió el antiguo edificio construido en 1928 respetando la fachada de seis plantas estilo Art Decó para construir en su interior la bellísima torre vanguardista de oficinas que se ha convertido en todo un referente para esta ciudad. Con el diseño de la fachada mediante la sorprendente estructura de acero a modo de rejilla « Diagrid » con las vigas en carga diagonales, se consiguió ahorrar hasta un 20% más de acero que en un rascacielos de tipo convencional; por estas y otras innovaciones, la Torre Hearst de Manhattan se convirtió en el primer rascacielos ecológico del siglo XXI para la ciudad de Nueva York.

Did you know...? Norman Foster had the enormous challenge of presenting the Hearst Tower project —days after— the sad S 11 attack occurred in the city of New York. The architect demolished the old building built in 1928 respecting the six-story facade art deco building inside the beautiful avant-garde office tower that has become a landmark for the city.
