Localizado en el número 2025 de la Avenida Brickell de Miami, en Florida, Estados Unidos, no lejos del Espirito Santo Plaza, diseño de KPF Kohn Pedersen Fox, el complejo de apartamentos "The Atlantis Condominiums" se ha convertido en uno de los edificios más queridos y representativos de la ciudad; no en vano, ha sido añadido recientemente a la importante lista Arquitectura de Florida: 100 años. 100 Lugares. El bonito edificio, que fue proyectado por Arquitectonica en 1980, —sin duda el mejor estudio de arquitectura de la ciudad de Miami—, se hizo mundialmente famoso gracias a que aparecía en los créditos de apertura de la banda sonora de la popular serie de televisión Miami Vice, "Corrupción en Miami", que protagonizaron los actores Don Johnson, en el papel de "Sonny Crockett", y Philip Michael Thomas, como "Ricardo Tubbs"; sin duda, el salir cada semana en esta famosa serie catapultó al edificio de inmediato al estrellato.

La moderna obra se ha convertido en un auténtico icono arquitectónico del siglo XX debido fundamentalmente a la preciosa composición geométrica de la fachada enfatizada con los colores primarios como el amarillo, el rojo o el azul; ésta, se compone en planta de un rectángulo alargado de 66 metros de altura que termina en una semi-circunferencia; no obstante, el alargado edificio se sitúa perpendicular a la propia Avenida Brickell. El programa del complejo esta compuesto por 94 apartamentos de lujo con su correspondiente terraza, parking, pista de tenis, gimnasio, sauna y piscina; asimismo, el agujero de la fachada a media altura con las paredes pintadas de color amarillo intenso donde se encuentra un enorme jacuzzi con una palmera y una escalera de caracol de color rojo, marca el lugar donde se encuentra el Tribunal Federal de Palma, de 5 plantas de altura y que se incluyó también en el mismo proyecto.

Con el corte de la fachada se consiguió reducir notablemente el volumen del edificio; este hecho hace que el edificio ofrezca menor resistencia frente al fuerte viento, cumpliendo de paso así una importante función estática. La prestigiosa firma Arquitectonica es hoy una Empresa Internacional con oficinas en Miami, Nueva York, Los Ángeles, París, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, entre otras; abajo, video del inmueble. / With the cut of the facade was achieved significantly reduce the volume of the building, this fact makes the building of least resistance to strong wind, fulfilling an important step and static function. En la fachada predomina la marcada geometría reticular. La fachada principal, nord-este, y las laterales, de menor sección, se revistieron mediante paneles de cristal reflectante; mientras tanto, para la fachada opuesta, la sur-oeste, —donde se ubicaron las terrazas de los distintos apartamentos, que volaron unos metros hacia el exterior—, se creó un dibujo cuadrangular cada tres plantas pintados en color azul y las barandillas en tonos blancos. A la bonita piscina, que se sitúa al pie del mar Caribe y que también tiene forma rectangular, se puede acceder a través de un bonito paseo rodeado por zonas verdes con acceso desde la propia Avenida Brickell. Los motivos geométricos de vivos colores que decoran la alargada fachada del Atlantis Condominiums con el corte a mitad de altura lo convierten en uno de los mejores atractivos de la ciudad de Miami, que junto con Nueva York, Chicago o Hong Kong, entre otros, produce uno de los mejores skyline del mundo.

On the facade dominates the marked lattice geometry.
